DIY: Let’s Have a Ice Cream Party

By  |  Comments

Who says no to ice cream? That’s what I thought! I have the best excuse to throw a party, have an ice cream party!!! Kids and adults will love the idea of getting together and have a nice cold treat while they mingle. You don’t need to have fancy ice cream maker or expensive decor. With some paper and scissors you can have a cute, simple and easy ice cream decor. Printables are an excellent choice when it comes to decorating. Food labels, toppers and more and all you can find for free here and here. Use old bowls, mason jars, paper cups or anything you can reused, that’s they key.

I adore the “Ice-Cream Parlour Buffet” idea from Eat, Drink, Chic. Is so simple, yet fill with colors, thanks to all the toppings and extras to decorate your delicious ice cream. Now go start making the guest list.

We have put together some party ideas and recipes for you to throw a fun treat party.

{TIP} To keep the ice cream from melting while is out of the freezer try to get a metal pan fill it with ice and spoon the ice cream in mason jars with lids to keep it cool and nice while your guests start enjoying their treats.

Here’s What You’ll Need for the Treats

  • A cute summer party invite! (Tiny Prints has tons of cute one for this theme)
  • Ice cream sandwiches
  • Colorful sprinkles to match your invitation
  • Glassine treat bags
  • Stapler
  • Sharpie marker to match your invitation

Step 1: Create Your Name Tags

Using your blank thank you cards, write each guests’ name with your permanent marker. Set these aside until it’s time to seal the bags.

Step 2: Decorate Your Ice Cream Sandwiches

Lay your sprinkles out onto a plate and gently roll the sandwich over them until it’s adorned with sweet, sugary morsels. Try not to crush your ice cream sammie with your fingers!

Step 3: Wrap and Seal Your Treats

Gently place your sprinkled sandwiches into the glassine bags. Fold your thank you cards over the opening of the bag, and use the stapler to secure them. Place them in the freezer until it’s time for dessert.

And Now for the Cute Party Hat

No party is complete without a party hat, and you can put this one together in just a few simple steps…

  • One piece of decorative scrapbook paper (we used one that featured a pattern to replicate the look of a waffle ice cream cone)
  • Ribbon
  • Pom poms
  • Glue
  • Hole punch

Step 1: Create the Base

Cut your scrapbook paper down so you have one round edge. Roll your paper into a cone shape and staple it together. You may need to trim some of the excess paper so the bottom of the hat stands level.

Step 2: Glue on Your Pom Poms and Secure Your Ribbon

Glue the pom poms to your hat as you please. Then, punch two holes on either side and knot your ribbon to the hat. Leave the ends loose so it can fit various guests throughout the party!
